A Village Scene

29th January 2025 Mr Nandakumar & Beena

I was captivated by Mr Nandakumar’s watercolour painting of a village in Tamil Nadu. It beautifully captures the simplicity of life many decades ago. The sight of the young boy on the haystack, his face beaming with joy during his ride, is a poignant reminder of the innocence and happiness that often accompany childhood. This emotion resonates with me when I look at this painting.

Life was challenging for many in those days, yet people found comfort in the simple things. Scenes like these were common in regions where rice was the primary crop. The buffaloes ploughed the land to cultivate rice, a staple food in Asia and many parts of the world. Over time, technology has transformed our lives. Some changes have been beneficial, such as the integration of AI. However, it’s interesting to consider how much our lives have improved from the days of the bullock cart. I’m eager to hear your thoughts on this.
