Hello, everyone. Today, I posted my acrylic painting of Santa Maria della Salute. I used the pointillism technique for this George Seurat painting, a classwork project that took me nearly eight hours to complete.
Santa Maria della Salute, or simply the Salute, is a Roman Catholic Church in Venice, Italy. 1630, a devastating plague outbreak wiped out a third of the population. As an offering to rid this plague, the Republic of Venice built and dedicated a church to Our Lady of Health. Hence, this church is baroque, depicting that early architecture.
When I finished the painting, I felt a certain peace filling me. Someone asked me a question recently that piqued my curiosity. The question was, at what point in the painting process do you feel the most joy? My answer was that I find joy when I’m halfway through and can see the outcome. I understand that some people find joy at the beginning or end of a journey. I’m eager to hear your thoughts on this question.
