Finding Strength in the Tyrol Alps

Hello everyone, Last week, I was debating what I could paintπŸ™„. Then Allan sent me a photo of the Tyrol Alps in Austria. The photo was intimidating🫨, but it also sparked a powerful inspiration in me. I was unsure how to paint the mountains and the solo cyclist, but I was excited to take on the challenge.

Using watercolour, I embarked on the challenging task of painting the snow-capped mountains and the rugged terrain. It was a process of trial and error, with numerous corrections made. Despite the initial difficulties, I persisted, refusing to give up on the painting. The following day, I found the courage to add the cyclist to the scene.

According to my friend Radzi, these mountains reminded him of Innsbruck. Buan felt that the place reminded her of the movie Sound of Music. Many of my friends loved this painting because it reminded them of mountains that exude peace, strength, and safety. It brings me great joy to share my art with you all and to hear your interpretations and feelings about it.

Historically, mountains were a source of strength and safety. Mountains stopped invaders and protected small communities to survive. I found strength to continue with my painting even when I wanted to give up. When I painted the cyclist, I felt victoriousπŸ’ƒπŸ½πŸ’ƒπŸ½. By the way, that cyclist is Marianna, Allan’s wife😊. Marianna, my friends loved those red boots you wore in the photoπŸ˜‰. It’s these personal connections that make our art more meaningful and relatable.

  1. In fact, the photograph from which this painting was done, was taken in the mountains halfway between Innsbruck and Salzburg, so both of you friends are correct to think that the painting reminds them of Innsbruck and the Sound of Music (filmed partially in the area around Salzburg) 😊
