When I shared my watercolor painting of an African-inspired mother and child, it sparked an outpouring of comments. As my first attempt at African art, I found the process surprisingly smooth compared to my earlier works. Yet, when many people praised it as my best piece, I felt a twinge of disappointment.
Reflecting on this, I realized why the response was so strong: had I painted a village in the same style, it might not have touched people in the same way. The image of a mother gently holding her daughter, captured in a moment of playfulness, resonates universally. It’s a joyful scene, evoking memories we all share.
Understanding this connection, my disappointment faded, replaced by a sense of gratitude for having created something that touched others so deeply.
