15th May 2025 Mr Nandakumar
While sketching in one of those cramped bylanes or the fort area of Trivandrum, I noticed this small door of the many row houses that was locked from the outside. There was no place to sit with a sketchbook, so I took a few pictures and painted a watercolour of what I saw.
Many Questions came to my mind.
Who owned this little row of houses?
Why is it in such a dilapidated condition?
Will someone come back to stay here?
Aren’t the neighbours concerned?
Even the lock appeared rusted.
At that point, I woke up from my labyrinth of negative thoughts and considered that whoever the owner is now will use the keys to unlock the history and prepare for the future.

It is an interesting story Nanda. Yeah, we walk past locked doors without giving them any thought. There maybe many reasons why the door was locked. With the rust, it would seem that no one had lived there for long. The mystery makes it exciting to know what happened for the owners to leave that home. Sadly, memories are lost when there is no one staying there.
Thanks for the story and the painting.
Thanks Dr Beena what you said is true we tend to ignore what we see not realising how others are impacted by it (like a banana peel strewn on the road)
