The Yellow Vase

Hi everyone, I recently shared my painting inspired by Van Gogh’s Vase with blue irises and asked for your insightful comments on the differences you could find. The overwhelming response and the thoughtful feedback you provided truly made my day. Thank you all for your valuable inputπŸ€—.

I painted it with acrylic paint, with layering to get a 3D effect. My vase is taller and slimmer compared to Van Gogh’s. Nevertheless, I was thrilled to read that many of you liked mine🀩🀩. He has many paintings of irises in a vase. The one with the yellow background and yellow vase is in the Van Gogh’s Museum in Amsterdam, while the one in the white vase is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Japanese prints influenced this style of painting. In those days, it was very popular with many artists.

Since I used acrylic paints, the colour is darker and less yellow than his. Did I subconsciously paint a slimmer vase because I would love to look a bit skinnier than I am now? I would love to hear your comments on this topicπŸ’ƒπŸ½πŸ’ƒπŸ½πŸ’ƒπŸ½.

Thank you my dear.I took 3 to 4 classes before I completed this painting. It about 7 hours. It is not the exact copy of Van Gogh’s yellow vase. I struggled with the flowers a lot as I wanted a 3D effect.
