16th February 2025 Beena
I was inspired to paint this mother and baby seal cuddling together in snow from a photo that Ramesh Varma took while he was in Antarctica. I was amazed by the expressive eyes of that seal. I found this tutorial by Emily Olsen online and recreated it. I painted with watercolour. The tricky part was creating that furry look. I used white watercolour to create the appearance of snow on their fur. However, I am satisfied by the comments that I received regarding the love between the mother and baby seals.
It was a delightful coincidence that I posted this painting on Valentine’s Day, which should be about unconditional love. I received a heartwarming post from a friend who lovingly referred to me as a sister. It was a beautiful reminder that love, not just the romantic kind, comes in many forms. I’m eager to hear your thoughts on this topic🫠🫠.

Unconditional love for people in your life and for humanity at large is the greatest love of all.
The painting is excellent Beena representing togetherness and fondness.
My thoughts on the title is a bit different.
What is love?
Is there conditional love?
If so … is it love?
To me love is ones presence with another where each person experiences completeness.
