Nuances of Acrylic Painting

12th March 2025 Kala & Beena

I love this bright-coloured flower. Kala painted this flower using acrylic paints on a 12 x 12-inch canvas. Painting on a larger canvas is challenging as it requires more physical effort and a different approach to composition. Acrylic paints dry very fast. Hence, one needs to paint fast or use water or a retarder. Retarder helps with blending of the paint colours. Many artists don’t like to use water, but they try to paint at a faster pace. One needs to paint an undercoat so that the white of the canvas is not seen. I can see that there are many layers to this painting. In addition, one needs to place the canvas on an easel. Some artists prefer to stand, but I always paint while seated. That is because I paint on smaller sized canvas and paper.

Nevertheless, the final outcome is seeing this brightly coloured flower. It looks like a daisy with different hues. Let me know if you knew all these aspects of acrylic painting🤗🤗.
