A Train Journey

28th June 2025 Ms Wendy & Beena

Ms Wendy’s watercolour in the Chinese style beautifully portrays the high-speed rail in China. The train, resembling a graceful fish, navigates the mountainous terrain with elegance. Her painting not only captures the motion but also the pure beauty of the high-speed rail.

China has one of the largest high-speed rail networks in the world. High-speed trains have shortened the time it takes to connect major cities like Beijing and Shang Hai. The convenience of arriving earlier at a destination is always a pleasure.

However, I don’t particularly enjoy travelling by train, whether regular or high-speed. I disliked such journeys when I was young because I experienced motion sickness. Those of you who suffer from motion sickness will understand that feeling well. The brain receives conflicting signals from your inner ear and your eyes. Once you start to feel unwell, the pleasure of travelling vanishes. Every time you need to travel, that fear comes back.

Over time, I’ve learned to manage my motion sickness, and now I can enjoy train journeys. I’m eager to hear your thoughts on motion sickness and your experiences with train travel. Please share your stories and advice. Let’s start a conversation.
