The story of our beloved house cat, Ah Hua
Our house cat, Ah Hua, came to our home around 8 to 9 years ago. She was a stray cat. Her condition then was wounds and scars all over her petite body. A little bit of loud noise would have made her jump. Why did she behave so? We suspected that she had been ill-treated before coming to our home. But the children loved her very much, so we decided to adopt her. We nursed and fed her properly until she regained her healthy self.
We kept Ah Hua outside the house compound. She knew that she was not allowed inside and stayed outside. She is very territorial, and she guards her ground fiercely. She will fight bravely and fiercely whenever unwelcome stray cats come near her territory. Ah Hua always won in the fights. Yet Ah Hua remained docile and loving all the time with us. We treated her like a member of the family. We showered her with love, and Ah Hua returned our affection by allowing us to stroke and carry her around, and she would linger at our feet when we were at the yard hanging out our laundry.
Ah Hua was such a lively and affectionate little one. She loved coming to us for cuddles, especially when we returned home by car. The moment she hears us, she would come running from afar, meowing loudly and circling our feet.
Now that the children have all grown up and are working overseas, Ah Hua has grown old and no longer visits the house. The last few times she came, her eyes revealed longing. But regardless of everything, she will always be an essential part of our family and will forever live in our memories. Now that our beloved Ah Hua has passed on, Sayonara, Ah Hua, wherever you are now.

This painting is a textured, expressive artwork depicting a tabby cat with large, soulful yellow eyes. The cat is positioned on a patterned tile floor, crouched next to a teal-blue bowl filled with kibble or food. The brushstrokes are bold and thick, using an impasto technique that adds a tactile, almost sculptural quality to the surface.
The color palette features earthy tones—browns, ochres, and grays—blended with high contrast between the cat’s dark fur and the light floor. The cat’s eyes are a focal point, rendered with emotional depth, possibly evoking hunger, curiosity, or a quiet plea for attention. The stylized and exaggerated size of the eyes enhances the emotional pull of the composition.

When I first saw the painting, I thought it was a photo taken or from AI. I was fascinated by the fact that it is a real painting by Mom. Every detail on Hua is so real and expressive. From there, it clearly shows the bonding between Mom and Hua , the details are closely captured and knitted on this painting.♥️♥️♥️
