16th September 2025 Mrs Lathika & Beena
Hello, everyone. It is with great excitement that I introduce Mrs Lathika Vijayaraghavan. She is an accomplished artist renowned for her unique creations using various mediums. Today, I am delighted to showcase a series of her paintings on sarees, a truly distinctive form of art in Indian culture that will undoubtedly captivate your interest.
You will observe that creating such stunning artwork with perfect symmetry demands great skill and patience. The first fabric painting is of the lotus.
Based on their usage, there are three types of lotus: the rhizome, seed, and flower lotus. About 70% of human consumption is produced in China. The lotus, a symbol of purity and beauty, plays a vital role in removing heavy metals from water, making it an important part of water treatment. Its significance in culture and the environment is truly inspiring.
Lotuses hold a special meaning for Hindus and Buddhists, often seen in their temples. The lotus, which can grow in muddy waters and then bloom into a beautiful flower, symbolises purity, enlightenment, and rebirth in these traditions. In Khajuraho and Hampi, architecture is inspired by lotus buds.
Seeing a pond of lotus is breathtaking for me. That is how I felt when I saw this painting on the saree. It is unique, and whoever wears it will feel very special. I am personally in awe of this artistic aspect of Lathika, and I am sure you will be too.
I will include her Instagram link here: lathiksarts. I encourage you to visit her page and explore her art. I hope you will enjoy her work as much as I did.
