Ganesh Series 1

1st October 2025 Mrs Nalini Rajappan & Beena

Hello, everyone. Today, I will post a series of paintings by Mrs Nalini Rajappan. In this series, she painted Ganesh with acrylic paint. She has painted Ganesh in mural, realistic, and abstract styles. The diverse styles denote her varied skills in painting the same subject.

Ganesh is a famous Hindu deity with an elephant head and four arms. Despite being a Hindu deity, Ganesh is worshipped worldwide in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. Buddhists and Jains also worship him. I have seen the Ganesh temple in Japan and São Paolo, Brazil. He is revered as a remover of obstacles, bringer of good luck, patron of science and the arts, and of intellect and wisdom.

During my travels, I often stumbled upon Ganesh in the most unexpected places, sparking my curiosity. I pondered how a Hindu deity could have such a widespread presence. I speculate that in the early days of Indian travel, Ganesh was carried as a protective charm, bringing luck in unfamiliar territories. The fact that Buddhism also embraced Ganesh adds another layer of intrigue to his journey.

While the world may be complex, our desires as human beings are simple. Deep within us, there’s a universal longing for survival and well-being. Love and compassion for all can help us achieve this. I’m eager to hear your thoughts on this shared human experience.
