Labour of Love

17th August 2025 Mariam & Beena

Today, I introduce a new artist. Mariam created this piece of art with cross-stitch. It depicts a half moon and stars. She said she made this for her daughter for fun. It was a labour of love.

I thought that was incredibly sweet. We can always do something for others without expecting anything in return, and that act brings great joy to us. Small acts of love bring happiness to both the giver and the receiver. And the best part? Generosity is straightforward and meaningful, and the gift need not be costly.

I have friends who will drop off some food at my door and send me a message to let me know. They feel that I might be lazy to cook, so it saves me time if they bring something for me. I find that act so generous. I am quite sure many of you do the same. Let’s share our own gifts with others that bring us great joy, and in doing so, we can all feel connected through our acts of kindness.

  1. Thank u, Beena, for putting up my ‘artwork’😀
Yes, indeed it was a labour of love and I was really happy about the finished product which took nearly a year !I remember the silver thread for the stars was comparatively more expensive (u can see the stars are barely noticeable…)
It is the centre of a bedspread which I made for my daughter.
Now, after seeing our classmate’s superb needlework, I realise how amateur mine was.
Beena has given it a pride of place! Thank u, dear!
