Leaves and Trees

3rd September 2024 Mr Mani Menon & Beena

Hello, everyone. I went on a forest trek last Sunday. I saw numerous trees with diverse leaf patterns. The beauty of this trek is that it is an uphill walk. It took me an hour to reach the top, where there was an Indian temple. At my age, I could only walk slowly, but I could appreciate the birds’ sounds, the water’s trickle, and the trees’ silence.

I saw trees with the bark peeling off, revealing a new smooth bark beneath crowned with massive foliage at the top. That tree must be about 100 feet; I am not sure; I felt tiny beneath it. A slow walk in a forest is humbling. It makes one reflect on life. Nevertheless, I felt invigorated when I completed the trek, as the downhill walk was more manageable.

Mr Mani’s abstract art, reminiscent of the leaves from my forest walk and the red sun, a symbol of Hope, brought to mind the challenges I overcame. Despite the initial difficulty of the walk, everything fell into place, and my friend and I celebrated our triumph with a delicious breakfast before heading back home.

  1. Leaves aand trees Ideal title for the abstract work of Mani Menon along the forest and your likely to see the similar pattern welldone ,Mani/Dr Beena(script)

  2. Forest breathing. ..a lovely way of meditation in nature…your experience says it all.
    Lovely artwork…very impressive.

  3. Well done. Your very own forest bathing.

I like how Mr Mani’s individual leaves and “fillers” interlock together to create a complex and intricate and yet harmonious bigger picture. It’s what we as a society of individuals need to strive for.

  4. Eco-therapy or a mindful walk through a jungle is meditative and heightens our senses of the beauty of nature. Must make the trek up to the Matang temple one of these days – love the abstract piece by Mani Menon and hope to see more ❤️
