Today, I wish to post this blue glass painting by my friend Jen. It is a watercolour painting that she painted during the COVID lockdown. I love how she chose still life as a subject for her painting. That is truly courageous and inspiring 🤩🤩.
Let me share my thoughts on this painting. Since we were young, we have had our own glass or cup to drink, which was not shared. When I saw this painting, it brought back a flood of nostalgic memories. I wonder if this blue glass is Jen’s own. Having something of our own is unique and gives a warm feeling.
My next thought is that Jen must be fearless when painting a special glass. Glass is not easy to paint as it is transparent. Every time I want to paint, I experience mental fear. It is all about ‘What if it does not work out?’ I don’t think Jen had such thoughts. She even included the cast shadow of the glass—all I can say, well done Jen👍🏽. Your courage in taking on such a challenging subject is truly admirable. You should still paint. An artist is fearless. I have yet to acquire that trait🙄😣.

Hi Beena, I bought this blue glass from Barang Barang in Tanglin Mall.
During Covid lockdown, there wasn’t much we could do, so I looked around the house for objects to paint. Found this blue glass and placed it in the sunlight and was mesmerised by the sight and decided there and then to paint it with no knowledge of the art behind such paintings. It’s just a spontaneous desire to see what I could make out of it.
In life such moments sometimes drive certain people to come up with crazy things they think are unimaginable if they had given more thought to it. 😝

Now reading what you wrote, I would conclude that you are someone who will take risks. Its true that sometimes we do risky stuff in life without giving much thought to it. Still, I still haven’t painted a glass jar:)
