Nature’s Elements

8th September 2024 Ms Wendy & Beena

Hi guys. Today, I have posted a Chinese-style watercolour painting by Ms Wendy. It is a scenic landscape of mountains, lowlands with trees, and a bridge. The bridge, a common feature in Chinese landscape paintings, symbolizes the connection between different elements of nature and the human world, adding a deeper layer of meaning to the artwork.

In this painting, the different elements of mountains, water, land, and the bridge are captured in a traditional Chinese style. Mountains denote strength and security, and mountains and water are important elements in Chinese landscape paintings.

Confucius, a great philosopher, once said, “the wise take pleasure in rivers and lakes, the virtuous in mountains”. This profound statement, along with the Daoist conception of the world, which views man as an inseparable part of the universe, enlightens us about the philosophical underpinnings of this painting.

Wendy, we are truly grateful for your generosity in sharing your beautiful painting with us on this website. Your contribution enriches our community.
