17th September 2025 Kala & Beena
Hello, everyone. I was immediately captivated by the blue tones in this painting. I received it this morning from Kala, a regular contributor. She painted it with acrylic paint on canvas, and it’s truly a sight to behold.
What truly captivated me in this painting was the unique way Kala used blue, not just for the flowers, but also for the tree trunks. It’s not often we see such a bold use of blue in nature, and Kala’s interpretation of it is truly intriguing.
Blue is a primary colour for pigments along with red and yellow in traditional colour theory. The modern approach considers cyan, magenta, and yellow as the true primary colours. From primary colours, we can produce secondary colours. Complementary colours are those located opposite each other on the colour wheel. When we study the colour wheel, we observe colours around us.
I hope you enjoy her painting and our little discussion about the colour wheel. Let me know in your comments.
