23rd July 2024 Marilys & Beena
Hello everyone. Today is a special announcement💃🏽. I am delighted to announce that we have reached a significant milestone- the 400th story. This means we have collectively produced 400 creative works, a testament to the talent and dedication of our community. Each of these works has contributed to the richness of this website, and for that, I am truly grateful.
As a quick recap, Allan and I established this platform to celebrate diverse stories and creative artwork. Thomas Sim, our talented designer, brought our vision to life. I am deeply grateful for the diverse contributions, from the youngest two-year-old artist, Hazel, to the oldest, Madam Lim. Their work truly reflects the inclusivity of our platform.
Today’s post is a collage by Marilys. She and I want to relive our trip to Pyongyang, North Korea, in April 2018. We were part of the WHO team selected to assess the oncology services in Pyongyang. It was a memorable trip, and we learned a lot from the people there. We spent a week travelling from the capital city to the most remote rural clinics. Despite the sanctions, they have strived to provide the best medical care in their capacity to the people. They take utmost care of all their equipment and provide surgical care for those in need. We were impressed by their knowledge and their enthusiasm to learn. Even in rural areas, young doctors are present to monitor the health status of the rural population. People work hard, and obesity is uncommon.
Having completed our findings, we have submitted them to the United Nations. We hope that our work will bring new hope to the people. Across the globe, people aspire for a brighter future. Let’s join hands and be a part of that hope🙏🙏🙏😊. Thank you everyone.

Dear Dr Beena & Allan
this is great news ,it seems we just touched the 300 mark the other day and today its 400 great job . with contributions from far and wide this is a commendable performance. The credit goes to you and Allan the brains behind the concept planning and its execution is of equal importance.Your note touches on he human side behind the sick if we could generate funds from the sale of the 400 paintings ,drawings etc we might be able to donate for a noble cause. I am sure our contributors feel the same about recognising talent and supporting the needfull
once again WITH 500JUST AROUND THE CORNER

Impressive. Keep it up.
This is a beautiful and meaningful collage and a fitting piece for the 400th milestone. Your passion and commitment to whatever you undertake are admirable and inspiring.
To paraphrase my favourite poem:
The collage is lovely, dark and deep
But you have promises to keep
And miles to go before you sleep
And miles to go before you sleep 😊
Apologies to Frost.
I’ll be with you on those miles ….
Thanks Nyuk for the beautiful poem. Hope one day, I can achieve my target of stories with the help from all the artists who have helped me with this project.

It was fun to make this collage. To tell the truth, I’m not actually gluing anything; I do this on my iPad, mostly erasing contours, which it’s very relaxing. I started making collages recently and thought this subject would please Beena. Also, I like the North Korean imagery with its pastel colors and characters gazing at the horizon in an inspired way (so vintage!). Plus, I took about 200 photos when I was there, so there was plenty of material to “collage.” The photo of our colleagues Gampo and Elena (with the flowers) was taken just before they went to lay wreaths at the foot of the statues of the great leaders Kim Jong-il and Kim Il-sung. It’s a mandatory stop, no joking around!
Dear Marilys
Thank you so much to creating those memories. They are truly wonderful, we worked hard and time flew while we worked hard. May the world always be a better place for everyone.
