20th October 2025 Ittymani & Ninu
Today is Divali, a significant Festival of Lights. To honour this cultural celebration, I’m excited to showcase the unique creations of Dr Ittymani and Ninu. Their exquisite art, mainly crafted from coconut shells, provides a beautiful backdrop for a tealight, enriching the festive atmosphere.
Divali, a Hindu festival celebrated by many faiths in India, is a time for bonding and homecoming. Communities come together for events and parades, encouraging social gatherings. An important part of the festival is the sharing of sweets, symbolising the sweetness of the bond between individuals and communities.
Most homes will be illuminated with oil lamps and other types of lighting that we have today. These lights not only enhance the festive atmosphere but also symbolise the communal spirit of sharing this special occasion with friends and neighbours. Living in peace is a blessing. It is easy to disturb peace with misunderstood ideas. Therefore, living in harmony with peace requires effort. The understanding that the light within each of us can dispel the darkness of hatred should be the foundation for lasting peace.
