Tiger’s Nest Bhutan

15th July Lavender

Lavender has beautifully captured the essence of the Tiger’s Nest monastery in her painting. This iconic site, built in 1692, holds a special place in the hearts of Vajrayana Buddhists. The legend of Guru Rinpoche being brought to this site on a tigress from Tibet adds to its mystique. The monastery, nestled near the cave where he meditated, is a sight to behold.

I am captivated by Lavendar’s painting and her journey to this place. She has skillfully depicted the beauty of the perilous mountains where the monastery stands. Despite her initial apprehension, she bravely trekked to the monastery. She embarked on the journey, partly on a pony, which she found to be a nerve-wracking experience. Each hop of the pony made her heart leap into her mouth. Undeterred, she continued on foot to the top. Her courage in facing these challenges is truly inspiring, and I applaud her for the trek and the painting.
