18th August 2025 Wendy & Beena
Hello, everyone. I’d like to share a striking black-and-white painting by Ms Wendy. She has skillfully depicted a ship amid turbulent waters, capturing the movement of the vessel as it rocks in the swells. The dark, overhanging clouds and the red sun, which she has painted, threaten the ship’s crew and passengers, creating a sense of imminent danger that is both captivating and thought-provoking.
Many of my friends enjoy going on cruises. However, I have a profound fear of sea travel. It’s not only the dangers lurking in the seas, the weather changes, or potential mechanical issues. It’s the haunting memories of the Titanic’s tragic end, the fear of being quarantined due to illness, and the unpredictability of the open sea that prevent me from boarding a ship.
Wendy, your painting has inspired me to face my fears about sea travel. I would love to hear about your experiences on a cruise, if you’re comfortable sharing. Your perspective might help me see the beauty and excitement of sea travel that I’ve been missing.

Hi, Dr. Beena. I just read your message. Thanks for sharing your fear of sea travel. I haven’t had sea travel experience; I have a height phobia rather than a sea phobia🥴. Everyone has their own fear. I guess it would be better if you were accompanied by friends or family.
Hi Wendy
Thank you for your comment. Many of us have more than one phobia but are afraid to voice it. They fear ridicule and suffer in silence. I have more phobias which I will reveal with an appropriate story later.
