Unpredictable Life

12th November 2025 Kala & Beena

When I first saw Kala’s recent paintings, I was captivated by their beauty. The vibrant colours, careful brushwork, and her portrayal of an autumn scene with a red barn on canvas — it was all so enchanting.

Both paintings feature a road with a bend, which obscures the view beyond it. Often, while driving, we reduce speed because we cannot see what lies ahead of the bend. Many accidents occur because of reckless driving on such curves.

Isn’t it true that our daily lives are like a road with a curve? We never know what’s around the bend. How often have we heard of a typical day turning into a tragedy? It’s a sobering thought, but one worth reflecting on.

I had a minor incident last week. I was walking to get my shoes from the store room and hit my little toe against the edge of the wall. The pain was excruciating and I was in agony. But I had to go out to the office as my internet was down. By the time I reached there, I was limping and I was not sure if I had fractured a tiny bone, as this had happened to me seven years ago when another toe fractured while I was walking. Fortunately, after two days, my swelling reduced and I was able to walk better. All this happened in seconds.

Therefore, my simple advice is to drive slowly when you reach a bend in the road, and walk carefully to avoid hitting walls. It only takes a few seconds. Please share your thoughts on the paintings or the musings.
