10th August 2026 Angela & Beena
When Angela sent me her vibrant acrylic painting of poppies in a vase, it instantly brightened my day and brought a genuine smile to my face. This simple act reminds me of the power of smiling.
I often reflect on how challenging it can be to smile, especially as we grow older. While many of us remember happy, laughing children, I have also witnessed the quiet sadness in some young faces. As an adult, I struggled to find reasons to smile—until I discovered the magic of making others laugh. When I shared a joke or a funny story, the laughter it sparked in others would ripple back to me, lifting my own spirits. Humour became my lifeline, a way to chase away sadness even when the underlying problems remained.
I think of Robin Williams, who used his extraordinary humour to bring joy to countless lives, even as he battled his own inner darkness. His story is a poignant reminder that laughter can coexist with pain, and that life is fleeting—so we must cherish every bright moment we find. Thank you, Angela, for painting a smile on my face today.
