Weaving Circle Series 3

19th October 2026 Mousa WELE Senegal

His T-shirt’s exquisitely woven pattern immediately drew every eye in the room. Subtle colours undulated across the fabric, forming wave-like motifs that evoked the rhythm of the sea—an echo of Senegal’s stunning coastline. The artistry in each thread told a silent story of heritage and place, sparking admiration and conversation among us all.
The narrow strips featured abstract Manjak and Wolof motifs—each one a symbolic fragment of history, woven into wearable art. Deep indigo, achieved through traditional resist dyeing (Adire style), added layers of depth and mystery. Skillfully tailored onto pocket panels, these patterns formed a design unique to Senegal, blending ancestral tradition with contemporary expression.
