Upside down

Hello everyoneπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰. Yea, lately, I am stuck with no thoughts. But then, this waterfall painting made me think of something about life🀨🀨🀨. I did this painting following a tutorial where the artist created the waterfall by painting upside downπŸ€”πŸ€”. Have I confused you?

Yeap, you draw the horizon line about a third from the bottom of the page and then paint colours quite loosely in the “sky” area. Then you turn the page around and add more water to let the paint flow. Hey, presto, you can see the waterfall. Then you need to add the rocks and the trees and sparkle in the water. 🀣🀣I have room for improvement, but that is for another day. As always, I have been brave to post my paintings despite them not being the best. I received feedback on improving, and I genuinely appreciate thatπŸ™πŸ™.

Then it occurred to me. Don’t we all have such upside-down moments in our lives? Have you thought, what did you do then? I usually like to find a solution as soon as possible. I know of friends who will say, ” sleep on it”. I find it hard to do nothing. I will try to find a solution unless it’s beyond my controlπŸ˜’πŸ˜’. Sometimes, I will eventually let it go. I find that when I painted this waterfall in this manner, it is like certain events in our lives. You are clueless about the outcome, which can turn out well or be a disaster. Only time will tellπŸ€”πŸ€¨. In the meantime, we will have to wait patiently. Painting has helped me to be patient. In the initial phases of the painting, it will look terrible. But once completed, mostly it will be fine. That is the gamble that I take every time I paintπŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†. Thanks for your support alwaysπŸ™πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Š.

  1. Dr Beena, your musings along with your paintings always sparkle with originality. i constantly wonder about the almost endless energy that goes into these brilliant creations. And I salute you for that. You are definitely a great fountainhead of inspiration to someone like me.
    Thank you.

    1. I wish to state that I followed a tutorial and tried my best to re create;). But the storyline is my own thoughts:)). 6 decades of life teaches us a lot right?

  2. Facing the unknown, some people may make quick decision to seek solution. However, prudence may be saying ‘don’t rush’.
Splashing upward of the water, makes painting upside down, a sensible technique πŸ€”πŸ˜Š

    1. It is true. Its always good to stay calm, think through first. But in reality many would jump jump in

  3. Very nicely done, Beena with excellent technique to get the texture of the water. Love waterfalls, like life, the turbulence of the water crashing diwn the rocks is always followed by the stream that smoothens out even the roughest of rocks and like life, goes on.
I’m attaching a photo of waterfall with similar colors that I captured in Wynaad, Kerala.

    1. Hi Baiju
In fact it was this photo of yours that inspired me to paint the waterfall. Life is strange in many ways. The resemblance to nature is uncanny. Keep taking photos and inspire others.

  4. Like the waterfall, you have taken the plunge. You have been brave in trying out the new and the unknown and even going for the upside down approach. Bravo!

    1. Thanks Nyuk for that support. I suppose you can say when you dont know much you take the plunge;)
