Hello everyoneππ. I painted this picture of a tree from a selected painting by Sabantha titled βLate Autumnβ from Pinterest. At that time, I was amazed by how the artist created that foggy look around that tree. Being watercolour, I need to add more water to create that misty look. For those fine branches, I used a fine-tipped waterproof pen.
I watched ” The Light We Carry” interview between Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey last night on Netflix. I was astounded by her frankness. She expressed her bouts of depression about the unfairness that social media has been able to influence the world with disinformation; how social media portrays truth that needs to be justifiedπΆπΆπΆ, and yet fake news is readily accepted in this worldππ. Many of us have been depressed for a long time. Yet, we never express that for fear of being ridiculed. Women’s low moods are often dismissed as “it must be her hormones.” Men, too, have low moods, but often they are camouflaged and go unnoticed.
For Michelle, knitting was therapy. I found mine in painting. We all have that inner voice that tells us what we can do to see that light. Listen to your inner voice. In this world, there will always be stuff that will bring us down. However, if we can find what helps us, it will help others. I felt better after I listened to that interview. It revealed that we need to acknowledge we will have our weaknesses, but how we deal with them matters πππ.
If you have a chance to watch it, please do. She has a book by the same name if you wish to read it. I feel our authentic selves will carry us; hence my Tree of Hope conveys the message that despite the grey background that resembles a post-nuclear war, the tree defied all odds and bloomedπππ. There is Hope if we realise that sooner than laterπππ.

That’s surely a message we all need to think hard about and acknowledge. Life is full of ups and downs. We have to be prepared to experience both. Wonderful thoughts Beena, your painting now holds much more meaning than just a pretty picture.
Yes Juny, i prefer to write my thoughts with an unsual link to the painting. Its how I would intepret, others may differ. Beauty lies in that diversity:)
To me, the tree seems to be barren, yet it is blossoming with beautiful bright flowers. The painting carries an uplifting message that despite all the odds that one faces, there is hope, bright hope. Thanks for sharing your painting!
