In Awe

22nd September 2024 Hwai Jen & Beena

Hello, everyone. Today, I am thrilled to share Hwai Jen’s unique pencil drawing of her grandson. This piece is part of her prolific output during the lockdown, and she has graciously allowed me to showcase it here.

I loved this drawing as she captured the look of awe on his face. His hands are in an akimbo position. As his face looked curious, I wondered what could have created that facial expression.

The expression of awe is something we all cherish. It signifies innocence, a new experience, and can be present at any stage of our lives. I’ve experienced this feeling of awe when watching my Yumi play with her toy, and I’m sure you’ve had similar moments. I hope you enjoyed Hwai Jen’s depiction of her grandson’s awe. Let’s continue to cherish these moments of awe in our lives.

  1. Wonder and awe are so much a part of a child’s life. Sadly adults lose that as they grow up..stop seeing the wonder in everything…and thats how adults lose joy.

Jen has captured that expression and body posture so beautifully.
