This is what Joy feels like

I painted every week in September, with the intention set – to create joy.

Little did I know then that it would come with side-effects:

I started to notice more detail in the ordinary, like the play of light and shadow on the walls and leaves.

I could feel my mind quieten, only to be filled with gentle musings and gratitude for the seemingly little things, like a friend remembering my favourite flowers and bringing me a bunch.

Here I’ve tried to capture my gift of sunflowers adorning my dining table. Pops of colour, in washes of water – an attempt to save a moment in time, with just a little more intention.
