I posted this painting of a fruit cart on Friday. The caption was, “A glass of fresh juice is refreshing.” I painted with watercolour. The challenges with this painting were creating an appearance that conveyed a hot day, making the fruits look juicy and fresh, and ensuring it felt ubiquitous.
When I read the remarks, many felt that they had been to such a cart on a hot day at some point in their lives. Many said the fruits appeared fresh and juicy. Riccardo sent me numerous photos from his recent holiday in Morocco. I adored the photo of the fruit cart and made the decision to paint it. I visited Morocco in 2008, and the orange juice was heavenly. I had only a short time to explore Marrakech, but it was unforgettable. There are always moments in our lives when events are unforgettable. For me, it was this trip to Marrakech. It led to a collaboration for the research work I was undertaking at that time, which became a significant turning point in my career. I also forged lasting friendships during that trip, some of whom I still keep in touch with. Friendships that enhance one’s potential and make you a better person are the ones that endure.
