9th June 2024 Joy & Beena
Hello, today I am posting a lovely watercolour painting by Joy. This painting reminded her of our excitement at the new blooms after torrential rain πππ.
That reminded me of rain. When we long for rain after a protracted period of hot weather, we feel like dancing in the rain, our laughter echoing through the streets. When we go to sleep listening to the gentle patter on the roofs, we are lulled into a deep, soothing sleep, our dreams filled with the scent of wet earth. However, when the floods rise, and we are trapped in our homes or cars or need evacuation, we experience fear, our hearts pounding with each raindrop.
The subject remains the same: rain. Yet, our emotions have evolved. In the different stages of our lives, the same things no longer evoke the same joy. I have a fondness for sweets. I used to indulge in a delectable Indian dessert called halva. I could devour it, yet it was never enough. But now, in my twilight years, I consume it in moderation, mindful of my health.
Do any of you have that same feeling? I used to love to travel when I was young, but now, I have a phobia of travel. What changed? It is mainly technology. I am more comfortable when I can talk to a person when I am checking in my bags. But these days, I need to do electronic check-in before leaving home. Then, I still need to check my bags with those tags at the airport. All this gives me bouts of anxiety. Have any of you experienced this shift in comfort and anxiety with the rise of technology in travel?
However, I have found a way around it. I tell any of the airport staff that I meet I need assistance and that I am incapable of checking in. So they will stand next to me when I press those buttons. Yet, I am still able to do itππ½ππ½; I don’t have that confidence; that’s my disability. But their presence and understanding make all the difference. It’s a small act of kindness that eases my anxiety and helps me navigate this new world of technology. Please share your thoughts on this topicππ.
