11th October 2026 Wendy & Beena
We are thrilled to share that our talented regular contributor, Ms Wendy, has just launched her own website: https://wendyycfung-stack.github.io/wendy. This exciting milestone highlights her creativity and dedication to sharing her art and thoughts with a wider audience.
To mark this achievement, I shared a series of her evocative moon paintings rendered in her signature Chinese style. Strikingly, the moon itself has been obscured from our view for the past two months by an unrelenting haze—a stark reminder of the environmental crises we face. These changes, whether natural or human-driven, cast a shadow on our collective spirit. Despite this, we all share a single, precious home: Earth. Why, then, do we persist in dividing ourselves—building hierarchies of rich, middle-income, low-income, and poor nations? Do such divisions serve anything more than our own egos? Recently, I overheard a conversation about holiday travel. When I mentioned having visited a particular country, the immediate reaction was, “Aren’t the people there starving?”
The underlying prejudice in that remark was unmistakable. Yet, if some worldwide catastrophe were to threaten our planet, would it matter in the slightest which nation we come from, or how wealthy we are? Our divisions become meaningless in the face of existential threats. I invite you, the readers, to reflect on how our choices and actions are shaping—or destroying—the only world we have.
