Lonely White Swan ?

6th August 2023 Beena

Hello thereπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰. I had so many interesting comments about the Swan painting that I did last Friday🀣🀣. I painted the Swan in watercolour from a picture on Pinterest. It was challenging to retain the white of the body, and there is some perspective element where the feathers are.

Hence, the first comment was that this Swan is not pure white, and then it’s on its own🀨🀨. I didn’t think very much about the Swan should be pure white as I was copying from a photo. Nevertheless, what made me laugh was the Swan being lonelyπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Recently, I had a long chat with one of my friends. According to him, I must be lonely (not sure what made him think that wayπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰). In my opinion, being lonely and being alone are two different concepts. One can be lonely in a group; one can be alone and don’t miss companyπŸ˜‚. Can you picture that difference? I have seen that a zillion timesπŸ˜‰. Many of my friends are comfortable being on their own 😎.

By sheer coincidence, there is an article about “grey divorce” or silver splitters rising for baby boomers on CNN news. Please read it, and you will know what I mean. Nevertheless, let us get back to my Swan. I have no clue about its gender. They are monogamous, but they, too, divorceπŸ˜‚.Β  One of my readers noticed a shape right behind its tiny horns. I hope you, too, see that image, and please share that in the comment section. I think my Swan is not lonelyπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚, maybe taking a break from its partnerπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰. I am sure all of you understand thatπŸ™.

  1. I have come across the similar remarks about loneliness. I share the same sentiment with these writers. In retirement, I fine that I can be alone yet happy. A cup of coffee, soft classical music in the background and online Sudoku games can keep me occupied for the entire morning, afternoon and night and I feel a sense of accomplishment and boundless joy when I have successfully tackled some very difficult Sudoku puzzles. My day is complete.

  2. Lonely is subjective
Sometimes being alone , a holiday alone is really invigorating
I feel being in one’s own company sometimes, is good for your relationship with others
Lonely swan maybe a swan at peace 😊

    1. Hi Geet, its takes strength in us to feel comfortable to be on our own. I agree that many of us want some form of company. To reach that level when you are fine even on your own takes time and personal growth. Some of us have reached there, others may still argue that companionship is vital for growth and health. Time will reveal the truth:)
