15th April 2025 Mr Mani & Beena

This abstract artwork by Mr Mani never fails to engage my mind. His work consistently sparks new thoughts and reflections, even from someone like me who doesn’t typically appreciate abstract art.

However, Mr Mani’s art never fails to make me think. He drew this tree, a significant symbol in Vishu celebrations. Vishu, the Indian New Year, falls on the 14th or 15th of April (Gregorian calendar)and is celebrated in various states of India, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka.

Indians have a deep cultural association with the colour gold or yellow, especially on the morning of the New Year. The Indian laburnum’s golden showers of tiny yellow flowers symbolise prosperity and new beginnings, making it a beautiful sight.

Mr Mani’s abstract art depicts a beautiful lady with outstretched arms carrying golden flowers and hands with long painted nails. The strong lady will hold the flowers even against the strongest winds. The art depicts strength in all of us. We can withstand any turbulence and emerge stronger. I would love to hear your thoughts on this art by Mr Mani. Please feel free to share your interpretations and reflections in the comments😊🙏.
