Hello and warm wishes for a peaceful New Year. I choose the word ‘Peaceful’ over ‘Happy’ because peace is the foundation of lasting fulfilment and true happiness. Happiness can be fleeting, but peace is something we can nurture and carry with us throughout the year.
After finishing this watercolour painting, I was struck by the harmonious colours reflected in the water. It felt fitting to use it as a New Year greeting, as it visually captures the peace and calm I hope for each of us in the year ahead. The scene shows many people, accompanied by my three dogs, strolling along a vibrant, warmly lit street lined with shops and buildings—an image of community and tranquillity.
As a child, I never saw differences between races, and as a young adult, I firmly believed in everyone’s right to justice. Today, I sense the world has changed—challenging the ideals of equality regardless of colour, caste, race, or religion. Still, I hold on to the hope that belief in equality and unity will be restored in the years ahead. With that hope, I extend to everyone my heartfelt wish for a truly Peaceful New Year.

Well said, Beena. On a personal level, many are also struggling to have inner peace in our current complex existence where humanity seems to be at a crossroad. We need a lot of love and understanding.

I feel even in our small circles people still think as Us and Them. Only when those thoughts disappear, equality will prevail.
