The 900th Story

24th April 2026 Allan H & Beena

It’s incredible—we’ve reached our 900th story! Our dedication is propelling us steadily toward our ultimate goal, which we may achieve as soon as the second quarter of this year. For this milestone, I chose Allan’s evocative paint-by-numbers depiction of Japanese scenery. Until now, I hadn’t realized how engaging paint-by-numbers could be. Each kit offers a pre-printed canvas, with every space and color carefully matched by number, inviting anyone to create a beautiful work of art.
The origins of paint-by-numbers stretch back to 1923, when the first patent was filed. In 1959, Max Klein—an innovative engineer from Palmer Paint Company in Detroit—and Dan Robbins took this idea to the masses by developing and marketing the now-famous kits. Today, more than 6,000 paint-by-numbers masterpieces have been archived online by a private collector, forming the largest known collection outside of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
If painting seems intimidating, paint-by-numbers offers a welcoming gateway to creativity. Anyone can produce their own artwork, regardless of experience. Creative pursuits aren’t just hobbies—they’re essential workouts for the mind. Just as we exercise to care for our bodies, nurturing our creativity strengthens and sharpens our brains every day.
Thank you to everyone whose passion and creativity have brought us to the 900th painting. This milestone welcomed several new artists, and I encourage you to explore the website to experience the full gallery. While I haven’t penned a story for every painting—sometimes themes overlap—I’ve gained invaluable insights from each one I’ve written. I’m grateful for every photo shared and critique received; your feedback has been instrumental in my growth. Together, let’s embrace the final stretch toward our 1,000th story—and beyond. This isn’t an endpoint but a vibrant continuation of our creative journey.

  1. Well done, Dr Beena. I thought it would take decades to achieve the 1000 stories set by you. This is truly amazing. Truly admire your determination and effort in producing a painting a week. Now the target can be seen around the corner already. Remarkable achievement. Hope it gets imprinted for the world to admire.

  2. WOW.
    Beena..this is awesome.
900 art pieces and stories that go together..😮❤️

The idea that Alan and you shared about a 1000 stories is reaching its final 100..what a feat.!! I am.sure you had no clue that it would reach this number so soon.

Paint by numbers may seem like an easy task.. but it requires immense patience to follow the numbers and use colour accordingly to create the picture..just like the beautiful one created by Alan😍

All the best to both of you as you now reach your goal very soon.

Do you plan go do another 1000??.😊

  4. Achievement indeed 👌
Painting by numbers reminds of the cross stitch pattern you get which is color coded and all different threads needed in a box
    You are having great fun
Enjoy and continue to have a blast

    1. Yes Geet,

I used to do cross-stitch by that method. But I think the painting by numbers is not easy too.

      Love
