I painted these birch trees in a peaceful woodland. I love these trees because of the natural marks on their trunks, which make each one unique. I have written a little history of the birch trees below.
Birches hold spiritual significance in several religions, both modern and ancient. In Celtic cultures, the birch represents growth, renewal, stability, initiation, and adaptability because it is highly versatile and can endure harsh conditions effortlessly. Evidence of this flexibility is seen in its quick and eager ability to repopulate areas damaged by forest fires or clearances. Birches are also linked to Tír na nÓg, the land of the dead and the Sidhe, in Gaelic folklore, and as such, often appear in Scottish, Irish, and English folk songs and ballads relating to death, fairies, or resurrection. The leaves of the silver birch are used in the festival of St George, celebrated in Novosej and other villages in Albania.
