Nanda’s Women Series 1

18th September 2025 Mr Nandakumar & Beena

Hello everyone. I’m excited to share with you some unique paintings by Mr Nandakumar, created many years ago. These artworks, a blend of watercolour and pencil drawings, offer a fascinating glimpse into his artistic vision.

The first is about a woman selling pots. Pots of various materials were common utensils in the kitchen. They were mainly used for cooking, but also to store water, carry water from the well, and for bathing. Pots made of clay and brass were common. Clay pots, when used for cooking over a charcoal fire, offer a distinctive flavour to the food, a cultural tradition that Mr Nandakumar’s paintings beautifully capture.

Mr Nandakumar’s paintings beautifully depict the everyday lives of women and their pots. His attention to detail and ability to portray these women-selling pots, carrying water, and taking a break after hard work-is truly admirable. Thank you, Nanda, for your heartfelt tribute to these diligent women.
