Hello, everyone. I was busy last week, which explains the pause in my writing. I posted an acrylic painting of a Helicon. I wish to credit my friend Mariam for the photo she sent me. Her contribution inspired the painting and sparked a meaningful reflection on resilience. The title of that painting, “As Resilient as a Heliconia,” resonated with many of you.
Heliconia and Bird of Paradise are not the same, though they have similar features. Both are tropical plants and resilient. Their resilience is not just a survival tactic; it is a beautiful display of strength and adaptability. Many of you felt a need to be resilient in your jobs. I think there was work stress, and the greeting on Friday served as a gentle reminder that despite the chaos around us, we can learn to be resilient.
One can practise resilience. It is easier to step back and persevere when facing challenges. With time, one grows stronger and finds it easier to confront the hardships of living. It is not a pleasant feeling; however, if one accepts the unpleasant circumstances, one can look back and say, ” I managed, even though I failed.” Accepting failure is not a setback, but a stepping stone towards success.
