Hi everyone. I shared a watercolour painting of a village house, a scene many of us can relate to for its serene charm. I titled it ‘Waiting,’ sparking a wave of curiosity: What are we all waiting for? I was inspired by Peter Sheeler’s line and wash watercolour painting.
That painting had people inside the home, with another person looking over the wooden fence on the left side and three little dogs on the right side of the painting. I felt everyone was waiting for something. Those three dogs may be waiting for their owner to come and play with them. The guy in the front of the house seems to be waiting for someone to return; the lady in the window may be waiting for the dogs to enter the house. The curious neighbour at the fence may be waiting to see the dogs.
Every day, we all find ourselves in a state of waiting. It’s a universal experience we all share, a constant rhythm that keeps us moving forward. Waiting is as natural as breathing, a part of our daily lives that we often overlook. Sometimes, it’s pleasant or stressful, but it’s always there. We wait for the weather to change, for our food to cook, for our loved ones to return. What are your thoughts on this universal experience of ‘waiting’? 🤗🤗.

Love this piece of painting and especially the meaning of it. It is true that waiting indeed is a universal experience. Waiting with that hope in mind. Can’t wait for your next painting.
I guess you’re waiting for our comments. 😊
I used to dread waiting. Waiting for people is a test of my patience. Waiting for an outcome to a certain incident or action creates anxiety…..It’s the passing of time when nothing happens and the uncertainty of when it will happen and what it will be like when it happens. All these fills my mind with dread and futility. Then the smart phone came into my life and voila ! I’m distracted by so many things on the gadget, and waiting suddenly becomes so much more bearable.
Hahah, I stopped waiting for comments, one less stress😂🐶. But you are spot on about the smart phones, it is a great distractor.
This painting depicts “Waiting for family to return” in a village home is a mix of anticipation and quiet reflection. The stillness of the countryside is occasionally interrupted by the distant chatter, or the chirping of birds. As you sit, your gaze naturally drifts to the dusty or winding village road, scanning each passerby for familiar faces.
Every silhouette in the distance stirs a flicker of hope—it might be them!
Such is my feeling of waiting. It’s a poignant feeling, where the longing to see family blends with the comfort of belonging, and the presence of familiar faces reminds me of the simple joys of community life.
Waiting is part of our life we can overcome the boredom with smartphone whatsapp, listen to music, engage in a lot of distractions offered. Another way is to carry a small sketch Book. I can bet on the fact that every wait will be different. Another is to use that time to answer missed calls instead of grumbling & cursing the person who made you wait, that way you will be in a better frame of mind to communicate purposefully after the Wait !! ….is over
There are many kinds of waiting. Waiting for academic examination results, for results of job interview, for medical reports can be traumatic and stressful. Waiting for delivery of furniture can be exciting because one doesn’t really know how the new furniture will fit in until it finally arrives. I was more than happy when the furniture which I purchased from ikea finally arrived and I rejoiced that it fitted well into my apartment. Waiting for MRT trains and buses to arrive never perturb me as I normally would be so preoccupied with reading and replying WhatsApp messages, playing Sudoku on my iphone or most recently I would be so preoccupied with drawing on my iphone using my Pocket Procreate app and experimenting with the 4000 procreate brushes that sometimes I wish the train takes a bit more time to arrive. 😝
That’s fantastic 4000brushes at your disposal
To kill Wait period great idea the best part is hoping the train would be late🤣
