Melt your challenges

Hello guys. I hope all are faring well. I wish to muse about this waterfall painting. Many of you felt you could hear the sounds of the waterfall๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿซ . Some wanted to be in that painting๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰.

ย This painting is watercolour with extensive layering. I didn’t use masking fluid to block the waterfall or white areas. I retained the white of the paper by carefully painting around the waterfall. The problem was that this paper differed from the usual one I painted. Hence, if I needed to be quicker, I could not blend the colours for the bottom part of the waterfall to get the misty effect. After three hours of painting, I was stressed๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿฅน. The other challenging areas were the swirls of water, the rocks, and to get the light on the grass. Finally, my teacher explained how I can get those effects๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š.

ย Isn’t this the same with life? When we are facing challenges, if we could have a calm voice giving us some options, our worries melt away๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—. The feeling is like sitting on the rocks and looking at the waterfall ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜Š.

  1. Agreed. When we are lost, we need a calm angelic voice, a person of wisdom to show us the way. Usually, this person will be either our father and mother. I am very lucky. I have some good friends to give me sound advice.

  2. You have overcome the challenges of this painting very well. I remember a gigantic challenge in my life when I felt I was hurtling over the edge of a waterfall. Iโ€™m so grateful that you were there with me and we saw it through together. Werenโ€™t we a bit dazed and overwhelmed after that? And we decided to do something very non-challenging like walking around a newly opened shopping mall. Thank you for your helping hand!

  3. Love your insightful thoughts on how to manage our life stresses. so true. so reassuring. Must learn to find tt calm voice Some can find it within themselves some in friends and loved ones and some in God Tha k you Beena for this lovely reminder

    1. Oh yes, I remember that day. I was filled with emotions and even tho I had fear of heights, I drove up to one of the upper levels of that parking lot. But it was only on the return downhill ride I froze:)). Nevertheless, we walked atound and I bought a toy for Zara. Thank you for those lovely memories.

    2. Thanks Yen Nee, we freeze and can’t think at times of crisis. Learning to practise calmness is an art. I think my art helped me to be calm.

  4. Dear Beena,

We may go around trying to manage life’s everyday challenges (the roaring waterfalls) fairly well..but even the strongest of us need a caring person to hold our hands and comfort and guide us many times…and a lot of research has clearly shown that all it takes is just one person in our lives to lift us from the depths of pain and difficulties.

The challenges you faced while doing your painting has shown not just to you but to all who saw it that challenges can be overcome with support and care.

    Love,
    Suchitra

    Take care
