Why wear a Crown?

14th September Mr Nandakumar

I painted the headgear worn by a Tribal community in watercolour. In my observation, those who wore headgear were the leaders in their community. Others may wear headgear, but the design denotes their position in their community.

When we look at civilization, Kings and Queens wore headgear. It symbolizes power and authority. Of course, in this modern era, many leaders do not wear any headgear to signify their authority. I have often wondered the significance of this tradition. Maybe, they need to stand out from the rest of us. Most of the crowns worn by royalty are rather elaborate and signify their wealth.

Let me know your thoughts on this aspect of wearing headgear/crown.
